"Equal Partnership between Men and Women in Families"
“Our Father knew exactly what He was doing when He created us. He made us enough alike to love each other but enough different that we would need to unite our strengths and stewardships to create a whole. Neither man nor woman is perfect or complete without the other. Thus, no marriage … is likely to reach its full potential until husbands and wives … work together in unity of purpose, respecting and relying upon each other’s strengths.” Sheri Dew
I
switched gears a little bit and went into chapter 4 which talks about the
importance of men and women being equally yoked. When God designed families He
intended for marriage to be an equal partnership with different
responsibilities. This chapter talks about Adam and Eve and how they were the
first family and they needed each other in order to return back to heaven with
Heavenly Father. I really loved the quote used in this chapter form Elder Oaks,
“Some Christians condemn Eve for her act, concluding that she and her daughters
are somehow flawed by it. Not the Latter-Day Saints! Informed by revelation, we
celebrate Eve’s act and honor her wisdom and courage I the great episode called
the Fall” (Hawkins, Dollahite, & Draper, p. 39).
